Jan: “When I was a young boy, I got into mischief. I watched the
sheep, I did odd jobs, I was cutting wood, all kinds of stuff.
Instead of going to school, I worked. I didn’t miss school. There
were other boys shepherding cows and sheep, so we were
together.”

Jan quit school after the first grade to work for different people. When his father got sick, Jan got a job at a factory to support his family. He was 14 years old. Having worked for so long, he questions why it is so difficult to find work now.
