In the middle of an ordinary day, a memory wells up and interrupts my routine, sending me back to a mundane moment from my childhood in Ireland. Memory can be elusive; some memories can be recalled on command while others dance on the edges of our consciousness, imperceptibly shaping us and affecting our present.
